Victoria Ordóñez
Owner of Bodegas Victoria Ordóñez & Hijos (Málaga, Spain)
Wine won Victoria over very gradually, but she is now its most fervent enthusiast.
Victoria has had links to the world of wine from a very early age (her father pioneered the distribution of upmarket vines in Málaga province), but it was not until 2004 that she decided to join the winemaking sector, dividing her time between the new occupation and her work in healthcare management.
She admits that all her knowledge is thanks to famous Austrian wine expert Alois Kracher, with whom she worked side by side until his death in 2007. It was at this point that Victoria Ordóñez decided to veer off in her career, and applied for leave from the Carlos Haya Regional Hospital to concentrate exclusively on the world of wine.
She has been involved in winery projects with a number of designations of origin, but in 2015 she decided to carry out her own project to retrieve Málaga's most emblematic variety: the Pedro Ximénez grape from the province's Los Montes Nature Park. She has also revived the defunct natural white wines formerly made from this grape.
